How do I delete Management Reporter Users?

(0) ShareShare

Running Dynamics AX 2012 R2 CU1

I had to delete two users in AD and also deleted them in Dynamics.  Looks like this is bad practice?

Now my management reporter integration will not sync because it is looking for those users.  I can see that they are still in MR / Designer security, but it will not let me delete.

Does anyone know a method to get the deleted AD/DAX users out of MR?

Thanks,

John

    Deleting a user

User information cannot be deleted from Management Reporter 2012. To delete a user, you must first

delete the user from Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012. The user will then be deleted from the Management

    Reporter database.

Note: If a user exists in multiple AOS instances, then the user must be deleted from all AOS instances

before that user will be deleted in Management Reporter. User roles in Management Reporter are

updated based on permissions in any remaining AOS.

Please verify and let us know if this solves your issue.

    Hi John,

I have few questions, your logging into MR with a administrator and try deleting those users r some other roles like Viewer,Generator and Designer.

When deleting the user in the MR-->Security-->What is the error your getting?

But still you can delete the MR user from the backend in SQL database.

Important:- Please take the backup of MR databases before starting the work.

Please use the below query one by one to delete the user:-

    Use ManagementReporter

delete SecurityUser where UserName = 'Username'

    delete [dbo].[SecurityPrincipal] where Name = 'Domain\Username'

And also if you want to change the role of the imported user in MR, please follow the below

Edit the security user table in MR database and change the values in the column Role Type as you need.

The following numbers denote the respective RoleTypes:-

    2 denotes the Viewer role

    3 denotes the Generator role

    4 denotes the Designer role

    5 denotes the Administrator role

*Also it is not advisable to do the changes from the backend.

I read this in the guide as well, but I am not sure how to delete a user account on another AOS.  I have two AOS servers with one set as the batch server.

    stop both the AOS,

    and stop the MR too

then start first AOS.. delete the user if it is still showing and then start the batch AOS server.

    then try MR and validate

Please verify and update if this way it helps you.

    Hi

If still the user exists, please navigate to AOT-->systemdocumentation-->Tables-->Userinfo-->Addins-->TableBrowser-->Select the user row and then Alt+F9 to the delete the entry.

If you face any issue from the above, still you can do the same in SQL server-->Userinfo table.

I was able to remove everything I could see from the MR database and delete the users in Report Designer afterwords.

    I still get this though:

[AX 2012 Companies to Organization] has encountered an error. Processing will be aborted. Error text: Incorrect syntax near '.'.

    Incorrect syntax near '.'.

    Incorrect syntax near '.'.

    Has anyone ever seen that?

    Thank you,

    John

Remove role name 'Security administrator' from users Role list in AX. After MR sync, user will be removed from MR security lit.
