NAV 2009 - Only Copy Master Data.

Hi All,

I am in a situation where I want to copy a company with Master data only.

Details are  - There is a company where i setup everything and by mistake without taking a backup, customer started testing on it. There are few parts of it which are documented and can be used, but some parts or application were pushed in During Testing.

Now the question is -

(A) I want to copy only Master Data to a Seprate company

OR

(B) Delete all transaction data from that company.

I looked for tools but NAV does not seems to have a standard / Custom tool created to identify list of master tables (A) or to identify list of Non Master Tables (B).

Am i missing something?

Any suggestion will be great help.

If you know something even in NAV 2013 or later, It would be helpful. But please don't suggest rapidstart Configuration work because that only take care of a Sales company..

I have already tried these -

1. Raidstart configuration worksheet (Doesn't seem complete).

2. All Delete Batches Administration - IT Administration - Data Deletion.

    Hi Saurav,

Normally, we use Setup Checklist screen (Form - 531) to copy the Master data to new company.

This would be much easier and faster.

If it is taking lot of time, you can check the transactions tables (manually > File > DB > Information) and delete the data from NAV Tables or SQL. This would be also another way.

We have tried both the scenario and able to manage the similar situation in the past.

    Hi Saurav,

This is interesting and I ended up in DUG about a similiar query.

Did you check Setup Checklist? dynamicsuser.net/.../30632

Thanks You Vishal Salot  & Nareshwar R.

I will take it froward from Setup Checklist...

Still wondering why Microsoft have removed this feature from future version...

    That seems an opportunity :p

    Thank you again.

I believe, this could be due to RapidStart Services functionality released in latest version.

Here also, you can select the important tables like COA, Item, FA, Vendor, Customer, Bank and then get the related data, which will pull all the setup tables.

We found ourselves in similar situation couple of times.

In some cases, we manually deleted the data from the posting tables and returned the number of series to their default state, leaving master data tables as they are. It of course requires that you know the needed tables (as they are not only those that are shown in the Navigator sheet for the transactions). But, it generally does not take much time. Items part usually brings most of the challenge.

In other cases we used SQL to copy master data tables directly from one database to another.

I remember we also used a deletion tool, similar to this one, for 4.0 and 5.0 versions:
