Lite Deployment - Installation doesn't overwrite opportunity sales process bpf customizations

Posted on by 5

My client already uses Sales Professional and they have customized the opportunity sales process bpf.  I've copied their production to sandbox and when I install Project Operations to that Sandbox, it won't overwrite the customized bpf with the Project opportunity sales process.  I have tried removing the unmanaged layer but I get an error saying workflow failed to uninstall.  How can I reset this properly?

Ahh ok. A service request sounds like the right way to go if you can't remove the unnecessary layer. It's definitely good to get it back to OOTB so you don't face any ProjOps solution upgrade failures due to that BPF.

Thanks Antti - and yes I'm familiar with the best practice.  I just didn't explain the issue well.  Basically the previous partner to this customer DID customize the OOTB Opportunity Sales Process BPF which I don't agree with and therefore when I install Project Operations, it won't remove their customization layer rendering that process useless to me.  I'm trying to remove their customizations to get it back to out of box.  I did submit a Microsoft ticket but haven't come to a resolution yet.

karnold7821 why do you want to overwrite a custom BPF with the ProjOps OOTB BPF? In the past, installing PSA or ProjOps to an environment with core Sales installed overwrote the OOTB Opportunity Sales Process BPF (not sure if this is the case today). I would strongly recommend you create a custom BPF for project based sales if the process in sales differs from what it was on non-project based sales. OOTB BPFs should be left as they are and customizations should always be done to custom BPFs, as per platform's best and proven practices.
