Mgmt Reporter RU3 Install - Incorrect DB Version

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Just installed RU3 of Mgmt Reporter on our test system to see if it fixed a bug we had.

Install ran perfect, completed with no errors reported, but when I look on the config console and in the services, the Process Service is not started, the Application Service starts OK

In the event viewer, have the following error occurring

Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Common.ReportingDatabaseVersionException: The version of the database is incorrect. Install the correct version of the database.

at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Security.DatabaseProperties.ValidateSchemaVersion()

at Microsoft.Dynamics.Performance.Reporting.Scheduler.SchedulerService.ValidateDatabaseVersionOnServiceStart()

Any help if anyone else tried this would be appreciated, will also try Microsoft

David

    OK,

    I can say I got caught by the new upgrade methodology, but have solved the issue. When you complete the upgrade, it tries to restart the services, and the Process Service will fail. To fix this, when you complete the upgrade, start the Configuration Panel, and in the lower left will be a task to 'Upgrade Database'. Click this, go through a couple of tasks, and you will be able to start the Process Service with everything happy.

    Not sure why this is seperate, or why the process tries to start the Process Service before this is done, but it all worked out

    David, Thank you for the answer. I recently applied the ManagementReporter2012-CU6-en-us and faced the same process service issue and your resolution worked

    Thanks again!

    Just installed Mgmt Reporter 2012 and applied Cumulative Update 8 support.microsoft.com/.../2929034 and same issue.  Went back into the Install folder for both Server and Client.  Ran the correct bit version with Server first and then followed by Client.  It asked to Repair so I ran it.  Then as David Brough suggested, opened up Configuration Panel and lower left pane (may have to expand the area) selected the Update Database and it worked.

    Same is happening when installing CU10 (I was on CU07).. If the DB needs to be upgraded, the DB upgrade process should run automatically just after coping the new files.. The 'update your database' message in the lower left corner of the MR Configuration Console is really not obvious... It shows that MR is a Microsoft product ;-/..    Thanks for posting your solution.
