Costing method is at item level.  You can have items at different costing method.

If they want same item to be tracked at different costing method.  I suggest to create two different item and have a processing report that recreates the entries for the second item.

    Hi Ehemast,

some of my customers use to separate methods at the same time. Depending on the item group. I always suggest to have the same costing method in a group of items. Normally this isn't a software decision but a accountants decision

As Jan says...ask to your Finance / Accounting Manager. You can use a different method for each Ítem, but I recommend one type per item group.

Remember that you will not be able to change it in the future with pending movements.

    Good luck!

A lot of my clients use different costing methods in the same company. It depends of item groups. For example, you can use following combinations:

-Average for material and FIFO for finish goods

-FIFO for materials and Standard for finish goods

    -...

You have to be careful because of your finance departmant wishes. Costing type combination depends of IFRS and similar standards. It is not commonly to use different cost methods for the same item type.

    hi,

It is not advisable to do so. We have only one report (1001- Inventory Valuation) which basically takes the average costing.
