AX 2012 - AIF - Sales Invoice Export in XML for EDI

Hi,

I want to get Sales Invoices out of AX 2012 in XML forward so that they can be passed through an EDI 3rd party and delivered to my Customers.

I have set up an Outbound port using the File System Adapter for operation SalesSalesInvoiceServiceRead.

I have also set up a recurring Batch Job for AIFGatewaySendService and AIFOutboundProcessingService.

IO can see the Batch Job is running regularly, however there is no Invoices are being output.

Have I missed some steps?

Thanks

You haven't mentioned inserting anything into the queue for outbound communication. Isn't it the problem?

There's quite a few things that may go wrong, e.g. permissions for the target folder. If something fails, you should find details in forms under System administration > Periodic > Services ad Application Integration Framework.

By the way, you can find an example in Walkthrough: Deploying the Document Service in an Outbound Exchange.

    Martin,

"You haven't mentioned inserting anything into the queue for outbound communication. Isn't it the problem?"

It most likely is ... how do I do that?

(I presume that you don't just mean raise a new Sales Invoice)

    Many Thanks

The outbound processing service sends only what it finds in the queue (AifOutboundProcessingQueue table), therefore you have to add a request to the queue first. It's always important to detect where things fail - if you don't get anything into the queue, the problem surely isn't in adapter's setup, for example.

You'll find a sample code for sending a request to the queue in the walkthrough I linked before. Such a code may be run from a button (as described in the walkthrough) or from any other logic. You may want to know that there already is a piece of logic doing that when printing sales invoices (except when printing to screen). See sendAsXML() method in SalesInvoiceJournalPrint class for details.
