X++ editor was used to be Morphx.

Now in D3FO it is visual studio. It seems same experience like C# or any other .Net language.

    Hi Arpan,

The x++ editor has been replaced with Visual Studio. This means that this is the biggest change. There are some statements depreciated, but we also got some statements which were already supported in languages like C#.

Have a look at the next page for much more details: ax.help.dynamics.com/.../technical-concepts-guide

Also you might have a look at this blog site: blogs.msdn.com/.../what-is-new-in-x-in-ax7.aspx

to be expert of c# is not must, as you are going to code in x++.

what you need to be aware of is, Visual Studio editor itself. The example(c#) referred above is because c# is very common language when we talk about VS. e.g. while you open a class in c# you see all methods under one pane. whereas in x++ you were used to see one method of a class at a time.

Irrespective of discussion, it is usually good to know c# for those developers who work with Microsoft technologies as c# can really do magic where x++ gest limitations

AX coding has been much improved and redesigned for the new version. Many features from C# has found it's way into the new developer environment, which means you need to be more on the edge about generic object-oriented development concepts, since it applies to the new X++ on a much higher level. Also now the AX treenode elements are now true objects, meaning they are fully represented by code.

It is time to take a course, there are a lot of good books. Head First C# is the one which I liked, since it teaches by doing it and is not a reference library kind of book, but there are other good sources as well out there.

You won't have problems if you learn those new features and principles of object-oriented development in general (and start using Wiki and a search engine ;)).

If you already knew those concepts from C# or other language, you would simply had less new to learn.
