Dears,

We have MS Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU9.

We need to assign several fixed assets to an internal project, So the fixed assets depreciation (Cost) will be allocated to the assigned project.

    Hi Peter,

If you are running an investment project and transfer the costs that you collected to a newly created or existing fixed asset via the estimation / elimination process, then the fixed asset number is automatically entered in this field. This does, however, not work the other way around in the way that the depreciation amounts for that fixed asset are also tracked and recorded back into to the project module. Please note that the fixed asset module does also include a fact box that shows the linked Investment Project.

    Hope this helps,

    Ludwig

    Thanks Ludwig for your reply,

Do you mean that it is affecting the ledger accounts only?

And I would like to know, What is the function of "Fixed Asset number" at the project setup?

    Hello Peter,

Standard Dynamics AX does not support this scenario to allocate depreciation expenses recorded in the fixed asset module to a project. What you can do though in the standard application is using a financial dimension "Project" that holds the depreciation costs. By doing it this way you can analyze the total project costs e.g. via Management Reporter.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
