Hello

I need to duplicate Trade agreement Journal Form and have the requirement to add new fields. Once I duplicate the form and I build the solution I am getting so many Errors related with the Code. Can anyone let me know if I have missed something and also if I duplicate a form does that affect the existing Business logic in anyway?

Can you share the error details? Without that we don't know your problem. Did you create an extension model or a customization model?

Why would do you want to duplicate the form in the first place? It's usually a bad thing form maintenance. Did you consider using a form extension?

Hello Martin

The client wants to keep the base form and want a customized form in parallel in the UI.

If I use an extension it will not allow me to keep the standard form in UI right?

And can you please confirm that should i create an extension for a duplicated form also in order to customize it? or I can start customizing the duplicated form without creating an extension.

Hi Sherwin,

If you need to run the forms in parallel, duplicating would be a viable option. The error messages are not complete. The real errors are not visible to me.

You can have both. For example, you add your new field through an extension and add a logic that hides there fields if the form isn't called with a specific parameter. Then you create a new menu item for the form, which will use the parameter. When users access the form through all original menu items, they won't see your new fields, if they use the menu item, they will see them.

There is no duplication so no problems with updates, and the standard code and your code are clearly separated in their own packages. That's how the appliation design should look like.

By the way, the errors suggest that you copied the form to another package that doesn't refer to all packages required by the form. You would have to add references to those packages.
