How FO sorts record wihtout sorting condition in select firstonly statement?

When you use select firstonly without specifying a sorting condition in D365FO how records are sorted and selected?

    It doesn't sort it in any way - it just sends the query to the database server. And DB doesn't guarantee any order - it can return any record meeting the conditions.
     
    If you want a specific order, always use order by. Omit it only if you don't care which record you get.

    The records don't get sorted if no order by is specified. It directly fetches whatever record it gets first with the given condition.
