Hi All ,

what is the difference between Category groups vs project category in Ax 2012 ?

How can use these groups in the transaction level ?

When we will use category group and when we use project category group in Ax 2012 ?

    Which category group are you referencing in your difference to project category groups? The only groups I can think of are the category groups in Projects which are the project category groups - could you give us the menu items of each one?

    Hi Steven ,

    Project Accounting module - > Setup - > Categories .

    Here you can find the both groups .  I am not clear about the difference between these groups.

    Could explain the difference and when can use these two groups ?

    When we will use category group and when we use project category group in Ax 2012 ?

    The category group contains categories - so you have a category group of "Items" and then categories to define the items from a project and posting perspective, so "electrical", "consumable" etc. It is simply a hierarchical classification.

    Hi Lally,

    In addition, next to reporting purposes you can use the category group to have a grouping to manage which ledger accounts will be used during postings.
