I was just pulled into a conversion with a client and their web developer. Their web developer stated that they are going to use GP Connect. What is GP Connect? I have never heard of GP connect aside from a GP users group or GP Connect for doctor offices. Does something called this exist for Dynamics GP?

What was GP Connect used for in the topic in reference too on your call? What is in conversation / slang of something else that we know/ term?How as it to be used, etc, it could have different meanings as it is common words. Reference to an ISV product/ integration?
I see a few ISV's out there with this name or just reference to eConnectSmartConnectPayrollConnectCRM Connector (not used much anymore) are a few that come to mind.

One of our clients told us they had hired a web developer who was going to use GP Connect to talk to GP. I then told them to ask for their references.
Just cause I have nothing else to do - could they mean eConnect?
I had a similar conversation where the developer kept using the 'not microsoft approved' name for a tool he wanted to use and the client was beside themselves with concern, until developer explained and brought out the right name.
However, Richard, if the developer continues to only refer to and insists on the GP Connect, I too would be concerned. We have been in the game long enough to know when you are dealing with someone that is, shall we say 'questionable'

Bill, I have had this client since 1995. I have had many sleepless nights because of them. Not once, but twice they asked me for recommendations for web developers. Both times my advice was disregarded. Every time they have done this the vendor swore up and down they knew GP. That was probably right because the could spell GP so technically they were not lying. I had to save their butts again by installing web services because that was all they knew. Using eConnect was not an option. It was a bit more challenging this time thanks to the changes with TLS but it is done.
