Record a Macro in GP to copy and past journal entries from Excel and then post the entry in GP

Posted on by 5

Good afternoon, I have a question regarding recording macros in GP.  We are currently using GP 2015 but about to upgrade to the 2018 version.

A great new feature that was available in GP 2015 was that you could easily copy and past journal entries from Excel into GP.

I am looking for a way to automate this further by running a macro that will take all the individual journal entries in Excel, copy and paste them into

GP and then post each entry and print the journal entry confirmation to a PDF.

Is it possible to record a macro that is working between Excel and Great Plains to accomplish this?

Thank you

Hello, I would upgrade to Dynamics GP 18.2 as soon as you can to start using all those great new features you have been missing for the last couple of versions!  MACRO's are pretty old technology, I don't feel it will work with copy and paste, but once you have the data in GP, you could try to record a MACRO of your process and see if you can automate that piece of it more.  Other ways to speed this up and with an upgrade now is the time to fine tune some of your business processes, do you want to look at an import of some sort of these journal entry, would that be faster?  Things to consider, there are ISV products and tools out there that may help with the posting routine as well to become more automated if you would like.

    Thanks
