I have two questions. First, is anyone using barcode readers for receipting/despatching goods. We are having a few problems with how we introduce this type of functionality. Any pointers to experiences would be useful. Second question is about MRP. we woul

Q1. How easy is it to put functionality onto a barcode reader. Do you know of anyone in the UK that provides the expertise.

Q2. We need to be able to group items together so that when MRP is run it bases its recommendations on the total of the group rather than a single. Is this possible in std AX or is there someone providing an add-on to help MRP.

    We are using barcode readers in one of our warehouses.  We had our picking list form modified to have the Output Order number and the Line ID numbers appear as standard barcode (3 of 9?) on the printed form.  We has custom code written where the loadout operator will scan a picklist to pull up the pick list registration form,  As each pallet containing a barcode tied to a batch number is scanned, the pick list form is updated.  We had functionality further added that allows the operator to then register the form and post the packing list.  This option was much cheaper than using true barcode "logic" functionality.  The scanners cost about $2000 each.

    I don't know if this helps but may give you at least one idea.
