Hi,
I’m building our production environment and I need to know
if it is supported (by Microsoft) to install the AOS (only, no
database or client) on a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 server that was setup in a “Server
Core” installation mode.
I was able to confirm from various sources that the SQL 2008
database server is *not* supported on Server Core installations, but
there is no specific information on Server Core hosting the AOS.
If it is not supported, I'm curious to know the reason why, and
whether it will be supported in the future.
The reason I am interested in hosting the AOS on a Server Core setup is because
I want to minimize the amount of software installed on our production servers
so that the performance is optimized and the attack surface is minimized.
