Standard cost activation

Hi All ,

As we all know that Standard cost price can be calculated in two ways.

  •  Standard cost price will be calculated by AX  based on BOM components and then activate the price
  • Enter the standard cost price manually and then activate the same

Assume that a standard cost price was activated for Jan, 2018, the question is, how to identify the activated price is whether it is system calculated or manually entered?

Who activated the standard cost price?

Any light over here?

    Hi,

Whether the price is calculated or entered can be identified from the following column

The last person who modified the record should be visible in the modified by field, which can be personalized into the form.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Thanks Ludwig .

We have a critical issue as cited below.

The client production environment has a critical issue that is during production order ending all financial entries are posting into the posting type  â€œ Production Quantity variance “ and  â€œProduction Substitution Variance'.

    Details:

 All items inventory value model – standard cost

    Scenario-

When I am searching on the web, everybody has explained the scenarios as mentioned below which leads to all the variances.

The common sources for a production-substitution variance includes the following:

    • Issue a material component that is not in the production BOM.

    • Add a component manually to the production BOM, and report it as consumed.

    • Add an operation manually to the production route, and report it as consumed.

    • Select a different BOM version when you are creating the production order, where the BOM version differs from the one that is used in the standard cost calculation.

    • The standard cost is activated manually.

Post our analysis, it is learnt that all above scenarios don’t exist in the prod environment, but still amount posts to variance accounts only.

I’m completely clueless that what might be other scenarios causing the issue. Can anyone of you please help if I missed out any pointers?

    Hi sri17,

If none of the scenarios applies then the system behavior that you see might be related to a bug.

What AX2012 version do you operate?

Have you already checked LCS for an available hotfix?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig for the reply .

    AX 2009.

The observation is that since JAN 2018 the issue occurs  and the production environment does not have any code changes or hotfixes for last one year.

    Hi sri17,

I checked LCS but could not find a hotfix.

Do you know if new standard cost prices have been activated in January 2018?

Can this cost price activation be the underlying issue?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Thanks Ludwig for your support and time.
Do you know if new standard cost prices have been activated in January 2018?
Yes , as a part of the new financial year standard cost prices had revised and same has been activated.
Can this cost price activation be the underlying issue?
I assume the same, but we are clueless because as I mentioned in the above post that application would post financial amount to variance accounts if the standard cost price is manually entered and activated.

The case is opposite in the prod environment as all FG and semi FG cost prices were calculated by application and then activated. In addition, all FG and Semi FG items calculated field is enabled as you mentioned in the screenshot.

Any other pointers would help here as per your experience?
