AX2012 Master Planning requirements

Hello All,

After much searching, I am wondering if anyone has ran into the same problem I have...  Once Master Planning is ran, and I view the requirement profile, some of the orders listed have been invoiced.  Our MRP is ran twice a day, and day after day the same MRP Planned orders are available to firm.  Why would master planning want a planned production order for something that has already shipped and inventory has been deducted?  The only thought I have is that there have been multiple output orders on the same sales order for that line.  But I am unable to delete the output order because it has been put on a shipment and "completed".  Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thank you!

Amanda L.

    Hi Amanda,

Master planning has many settings which could cause unwanted proposals. Also customuzations might break standard behavior. Can you tell about the parameter settings? Please also confirm if you use the option to full regenerate the plan during the master planning job.

    Hi Andre

Our master scheduling parameters are Operation scheduling based on regeneration, including on-hand inventory and inv. transactions.  Also, when filtered on a planned order, and I rerun from the requirement profile page, the recalculate BOM level is selected.   I have searched Tech Net and every other site and can not find a similar issue.

I'm not clear on this.  Is it:

1.)The delivered / invoiced sales orders still showing in net requirements.

2.)You still showing planned orders for requirements you know shipped and are invoiced?

    3.)Something else, maybe both?

If #2, are the planned orders "Approved", if so, planning won't touch those, and you need to figure out why they are getting approved, but not firmed.   As Andre said, lots going on with master planning.

    Amanda,

Something that also might help troubleshoot is looking at what the planned production orders are actually pegged against.  If you select the planned production order in the net requirements form and look in the lower section under "pegging", you'll see why the planned production order is needed.

Check this out.  Is it actually pegged against sales orders that you think shouldn't be driving new planned orders, or are they pegged against something else (safety stock, inventory journals, etc.)?

    Colby,

Yes, the planned orders are for Delivered/Invoiced orders that are showing in the net requirements.  The planned orders are not approved.

    Jake,

The planned production order is pegged to the Invoiced sales order.  There are no other requirements for the product, and therefore nothing else displayed in the pegging.

What version are you on. There was an early release of AX2012 that did something similar from memory.

The next is to show the net requirements and confirm it is over ordering, then understand why if you have a basic setup.

    Steve,

We are on AX2012 R3. Net requirements on the product are giving the same values as MRP.

Then pick a simple one. Show us the net requirements highlighting your issue with the accumulated total > required, show us the item coverage configuration and time fences and we can do from there. You can attach a document with the screen shots in.

It is not a case of the Net Requirements being the same, it naturally would be, it is what it is telling you that is key. Show the demand - why is it still demand and in Net Requirements if it has been shipped?
