AX 2012 Enterprise portal installation error

I am trying to setup an AX development environment. I have installed AX 2012 without EP successfully. Now I am trying to install EP, but I am getting error messages. I am posting the content from the error log created by the installation.

Please let me know how to fix this installation issue. I have highlighted the log message where the error occured. The sharepoint site is working fine. I am using sharepoint foundation services.

    Hello satish,

    seems like you haven't created a web application in SharePoint central admin, setup will roll back if there is a single error at any point of time while installation. see the following article to fix the issue.

    hi sathish,

    is it a stand alone sharepoint farm or multiserver? if this is a multi farms ( means you have web front end and app server) and if you install EP on server other than the web application have created the setup could not find the web app. to succeed you need to extend the web application.

    Hi,

    I just got over this, so here is the "how & why":

    The problem stems from the EP installer trying to look up which local IIS website it needs to install the extension to. This is done by trying to query the selected webapp for the short hostname of the server the installer is running on if no header are set on the websites. If that said hostname(or header) is not in the AAMs for the webapp in SP, it will fail. It is that simple.

    To solve the problem (and enable You to do some testing locally on the servers anyways), add AAMs to the webapp that You create for the EP/RoleCenter right after you create it for:

    1. all short hostnames of the farm (app, web1, web2 in my case)

    2. FQDN and short name for any LB virtual names (which will need to be A records in DNS by the way if you use Kerberos, not CNAMES, otherwise it won't work)

    3. register the SPNs for said names to the service account that you use for the webapp (always use managed accounts, not local service accounts)

    If You have done this, You'll be able to do the installation of the extensions in any order on the servers that You like. When that is done, create the site collection, be happy ever after, get fat premiums, etc.. :-)
