create multiple copies of a report with different report headings

ReportReport
Posted on by 110

Hello

I am trying to create a slight variation on the sales confirmation report whereby when the user runs the report it then creates three copies of the same report but with slightly different headings.

For example. The first one has just Sales Confirmation; The next has Sales Confirmation - Delivery and the last has Sales Confirmation - Haulier. Because of the requirement i cannot use print management as this only allows you to change footer text and not header text. Any code examples or even just where to look would be appreciated,

    Hi Otis,

Do you want the ouput in three different windows at the same time when user runs the report or you are providing three different menu options for different output?

    Thanks,

    Baber.

    Hi Otis

As per my understanding, you have two options :

1- As footer text standard behaviour, you could create three different report design and manage the proper header text to each one.

Finally, call the confirmation report three time with the specific design.

2- Handle a new report parameter and condition the Header Text according the new parameter

Finally, call the confirmation report three time with the specific parameter

    Hello

I am hoping to use just the one menu option that will open one window that has the report in it. As an example, if the original report was one page it would contain three pages; if it was a three page report it would contain nine pages.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello Denis

The second idea sounds the better one but how would i get this onto one window so that the user only has to click print once?

    Thanks

Ok, I have moved on a little. The person who gave the original requirement has said that we can use Print Management but the changes to each document must be in the header. Turns out that you CAN put the @identificationText into the header as well as the footer and it works! Result! However, I am still getting three separate windows open for each report which the user will then have to click print three times which they REALLY dont want to do. Is there anything glaringly obvious I am missing?

    Hi Otis

If I understood well, you have created three documents just to handle three different Footer text.

So, the report to screen will be show three time.

On Print Management, try to set the Destination directly to Printer

    Hello Denis

I haven't created three documents at all; I have just created the one document and I have used Identification Text in the Header of the document so that the footer text shows in that area and gives the user the different headings that they require per report that is given to them via the print management option that I am now allowed to use. Where the difference came is when you try to reprint the document and you see a report window per report. The way "around" this is to send them directly to the printer when they use the Print Management option and this is what I have suggested to them.
