Inventory status blocked/unblocked by default on warehouse (AX 2012 R3 CU9)

Hi,

I'd like to define by default on inventory status BLOCKED on warehouse.

Why I'm not allowed to do such a thing ?!

"Status specified for default stock status must be a good status."

I explain : I 'd like to assign a blocked inventory status at production orders creation by default.
Then using a quality association based on "Report as finished" event type, I modifie the status if the test is passed.

How i can do that please ?

Many thanks

Eric

Because the inventory status you set on a warehouse can default on to, for example, sales orders, and 'Blocked' inventory statuses are not allowed to be added to sales orders.

I found I didn't need to use the 'Blocked' functionality. As long as you use an inventory status that is different from the inventory status on your demand (e.g. your sales orders), it won't get used.

Thanks. I understand if I do as you say it means that my stock is not really blocked, just identified due to a specific status. For my part, I think it isn't very clever.

Are you using batch tracking?  You can use batch disposition to offer this.  Create different batch dispositions at Inventory Mgmt-> Setup->Batch Disposition->Batch Disposition Master.

Set your Item Model Group to default the correct batch disposition when you create the production order, then have your quality order update the batch disposition to an "Approved" disposition.

Also, I'd suggest you make sure your WIP items are still nettable, else you will have a planned order, that planning will see, you will firm it up and then planning will think it disappeared, and generate a new planned order, even though you have one in WIP.

Yes I could use batch disposition code but as I have to use stock status in another context and I'd prefer not to use both notions if possible. Setting will be difficult to maintain for my customer I think ("in that case, we have to use batch disposition, in this one stock status ...").

Why we can't manage stock status in the Item Modul Group ? ... 2012 R3 ...

So I'll see. Thank you for your help !!
