Account structure rule

Hi!

AX 2012 R3

We would like to set up a rule on one dimension, saying it can only be 4 digits.

The available data in that dimension is a mix of 4 digits , and sometimes 2 letters (always FA) followed by 4 digits.

On one specific acocunt the users should only be able to chose the data consisting of 4 digits.

I have tried using ???? and #### but none of those works for me. Is it even possible?

If possible I don't want to use the advanced rules.

For some accounts the user should only be able to enter the data consisting of 2 letters (FA) and 4 digits, and there I was able to apply a rule saying FA*

    Hello Björn,

What you describe is a bit abstract.

Is is possibly that you provide an example?

I am not very clear with the financial dimensions that are a mix of letters and digits. Do these financial dimension values always have a length of 4 characters or sometimes 5 or 6 characters?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

Sorry if I was unclear, it was written in a bit of a rush :)

So, we have one dimension called "Contract"

Let's say we have 2 ledger accounts:

    1219

    1220.

Let's also say we have 4 dimension values:

    FA1234

    FA1235

    9876

    9875

For ledger account 1219, only dimension values FA1234 and FA1235 are allowed, and this is easy by saying "Begins with FA" as a rule.

For ledger account 1220, only dimension values 9876 and 9875 are allowed, and this is where I fail.

The values starting with FA* are always 6 characters

The values with only numbers are always 4 characters

    More clear? :)

    /Björn

    Hi Bjorn,

You didn't describe how you got stuck or what you did or didn't attempt to do.

If it is only 9875 and 9876, you can specify these individual values in your account structures. If there are more values, you can actually use wildcards or ranges. E.g. 98* or 0000..9999.

    Hi Björn,

As Andre mentioned below, you can Setup a new line in the account structure where you specify

For account 1220, only the financial dimension values 9875 and 9876 are allowed.

This can be achieved by using 'dots' 9875..9876 or by listing and separating them by commas.

Probably just give it a try in a test environment to check whether this works out for you.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

0000..9999 will work perfectly, and I am basjing myself for not seeing something so obvious :)

Sometime the solution is right in front of you but you don't see it.

    /Björn
