Please advise how to update existing account structure

Initially, the company accounting structure is 6 financial dimensions and post number of journals. 
MainAccounts-D1-D2--D4-D5-D6
 
 
As per company structure is changed, we need change some main accounts to be the financial dimension from 6 to 9. Other remaining main accounts are still 6
 
The system will prompt me the error message not to allow for change.
Please advise
