Error creating product barcode from number sequence

Hello all, I am on AX2012 R2 trying to create some barcodes for inventory products that have long alphanumeric item numbers. The best way I have found (may be wrong) is to generate a barcode based on a number sequence. I have followed a tutorial here (www.k3technical.com/creating-sequential-number-sequence-bar-codes-in-ax-2012) and am getting an error upon creation of the barcode from number sequence. I have the number sequence specified for the respective vendor (A sequence I just created) and entered on the vendor, retail fastTab. When I click OK to create the bar code it asks me to create barcodes for all existing combinations. I click Yes and get the error "Number sequence does not exist." I am at a loss on how to go about fixing this. Anybody have any ideas?

Is says that the given number sequence doesn't exist. How do you define which number sequence should be used in the logic generating barcodes? Which one is actually used when the error is thrown? (You'll see it in the debugger.)

@Martin, Thanks for the reply. The number sequence (Called Barcode) is specified in the vendor account on the retail section. The item is called Bar Code number sequence. I set that to "Barcode". Then I go to configure the barcode for an item called "AppleiPhoneLCDDIGFHW". So manage Inventory, Bar Codes under warehouse. I then select Functions, Create bar codes from number sequences. I select the vendor account that has the number sequence specified earlier. Everything else is already filled out. Click OK, then Yes to creating bar codes for all combinations and I get the previously mentioned error.

Any idea on how to set up the debugger to trace this? I am kinda new to using the debugger in any capacity.

Hi RaineKos,

Did you manage to resolve this as I am having the same issue. I can get around the Issue by using "Create/ update barcodes", and setting up Masks and variant barcode numbers. But this is far from Ideal.
