database log - Connected Field Services

I have a device that is connected to a database.

The software writes lots of information to a database.

I was hoping to use connected field services to create workorders and cases in dynamics 365.

But I do not have an IOT device.

How can I achieve this without an IOT device?

I am assuming I would need to add a layer in to do the analyse?

I do not have an alert of any kind.

Or is this something I could write in Power Automate?

To Alex's point, if you plan to only pass alerts where users can analyze and then convert to cases or work orders, using the CFS alert table makes sense. If you plan to leverage the models where CFS helps determine which alerts should be cases/work orders and the importance, using CFS makes sense. Are you trying to analyze readings and decide when to create a work order/case? Or you already know you need one? If you just want to auto create a WO based on another DB which has data, use power automate to create a WO/Case makes more sense without using CFS.

The main elements of Connected FS are:

    • IoT Hub - receives the telemetry from the device
    • Stream Analytics - finds anomalies
    • Logic Apps - create IoT Alerts if an anomaly was found

If you're not using any of the 3, you need an alternative for #2 that - as you said - does the analysis. This element can then use Logic Apps/Power Automate to create the IoT Alert.

Connected FS provides a lot of additional value such as 2-way communication with the device or the visual analysis using Time Series Insights, so you might want to consider a migration instead of rebuilding all the logic.
