Using Windows credentials without the domain prefix

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all

I upgraded a 2009 ==> 2016 DB but I have the problem that old DB contains simple users like xy and now with 2016 when I have to use windows credentials users are domain/abc.

As there are many entries in the db with the old vaues for simple users I need to have Windows credentials login but it should be not domain/xy but xy onle.

Do I relly need to mess around the data e.g. in ql mgmt studio directly? Isn't there a way where windows credetials could be xy only even when domain joined Thanks.

I am sorry but i don't think there is a way to shorten that.

I think it's not possible. Many checks are related to the Win login in NAV.

Unless you want to use DB Users... but you always have to make a rework!

You are right - it is not new the change is in the upgrade scenario from the database.

    But the question is:

Isn't there a way to shorten the windows credentials from domain/xy to xy that the data must not be changed? I thiknk of something like using windows credentials but NAV woudl only consider username xy

Regarding having only user name in 2009 i have to check i have always seen Domain\User this is not new, maybe i am missing something in that part but anyhow don't update the data in the SQL Management Studio directly, that is not a good ideas, use Rapid Start Services or xmlport or processing report to update the data.
