Comments, Extended Text, Statistics, Etc. No Longer Follow Records

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

In older versions of NAV, you could have Comments, Extended Text, Statistics, etc. open, and as you move through records, those windows would "follow" the record you're currently on. In NAV 2017, this is no longer the case, and you have to re-open these windows for every record as you move through!

We moved from 2.6 to 2017, so needless to say, there have been a lot of changes we had to get used to (many for the better, we recognize), but the removal of this functionality has been seriously missed on our end.

Are there other organizations out there who struggle with this? Has anyone customized their way out of this problem?

Yes, I guess it I the price you have to pay for role-tailored client. The "follow record" feature is used more in fact-boxes, so when you move through the records, the information changes there.
