Hello,
Which of the two will allow me to report on outstanding commitments in Management Reporter?
- Encumbrance Management or
-Purchase Order Commitments
Management Reporter can read Encumbrance Management budgets. It will read the summary encumbrance amounts, but is unable to read any of the detail. MR reads data out of the GL00201 table only. When you create an encumbrance budget in GP, it stores the summary encumbrance amounts in the GL00201 and MR can read this. All of the other details are stored in the ENC tables, which is not something that MR can read.
Thanks Greg, so po commitments cannot be reported on in MR?
What’s the major difference between Commitments and Encumbrance?
I believe that either product works with MR.
Basically a separate commitment budget is created for both products. That budget can be added to MR Column layouts. This way you can see budget vs actual plus committed which, is much better than just being able to see budget vs actual.
The encumbrance management has more a look and feel for govt/non profits that use encumbrance terminology.
regards
