May i know what is the purpose of Ordered Field in Purchase order form as shown below:

  2. Purchase order Lines
  3. Click on Quantity Tab

Both deliver remainder and ordered field shown same quantity.  What is the purpose to having ordered field?

    ordered = how much quantity I have ordered e.g. I have ordered 10 laptops

    deliver remainder  = how much I have to receive yet.

    • At start when PO is created ordered = deliver remainder ; as e.g. I ordered 10 laptops so I have to receive 10 laptops that is my delivery reminder.
    • Now suppose after 1 day I received 7 laptops; in this case Ordered will be 10 and deliver remainder will  be 3.
    • It is possible to have partial receiving of goods/PO, in real world and also in system(AX).

    Ordered = Ordered quantity of PO which is viable for (Packing slip, registration, Reservation)

    Deliver remainder   = how much quantity is remaining for packing slip

    You could not get difference between this two field if you are doing only packing slip and invoice.

    But lets take one example

    If you have PO with 50 quantity

    Quantity status will be

    Orderd = 50

    deliver remainder   = 50

    Now you have done partial packing slip for 10 quantity

    Ordered = 40

    Deliver remainder   = 40

    Received = 10

    Now you have done registration for 10 quantity in same line then you can get below status

    Ordered = 30

    deliver remainder   = 40

    registered  = 10

    Total QTY = ordered + received + registered + arrived
