Clone Solution

Hi,

Need help in understanding how clone solution import in Production works?

At present we use patches for any development work in DEV environment and import them in Prod, now we have many patches and want to roll over into a new solution using Clone Solution.

I know when i will click on Clone solution it will roll up all the patches and the base solution and create a higher version of solution in DEV but what i do not know is how do i then import this new solution in Production, so looking out for help.

Anything that i should be aware of while doing this import and after the import that i may need to check or be careful about or it is same like importing a patch in Prod.

Thanks,

PS

    Hi,

When you clone the solution in dev, it will create a higher version of the solution and delete other patches and all patches file will be there in this solution.

You just have to export this new solution and import in your production & on the popup you must select "Stage for Upgrade"and overwrite or maintain customization as per reference. once solution is successful. click on apply solution upgrade.

you can refer to below article :

    Hi Rawish,

That is very helpful, thank you for your reply.

One more thing to confirm please, might be a silly question, when i Clone solution, i will be importing it as managed in UAT and PROD, but recently we have created another DEV environment which does not hold hold anything as of now. My questions are:

1)Do I need to import this Cloned solution as unmanaged in the new DEV? since i need the ability to work on components present in this new solution OR

2)I can import as managed in new DEV and start working off with a new solution? But the purpose is to have this new DEV as a replica of my old DEV, so we can separate project related work from BAU work which also means i will be constantly importing any further patches around new EDV to old DEV and vice-versa, in which case will this option work?

What will be the pros and cons of both approaches?

    Will really appreciate your help.

    Thanks,

    PS
