Firstly in the ways of programming I am but a mere novice. We are currently running a CRM system (customized) on Premises and use a third party applications to handle data transfers between CRM and our bespoke intranet application. I have been tasked with looking at directly reading and writing to CRM. I have a CRM V9 test VM to 'play with' After looking through the web I have come across this Step-by-Step Guide to Portal Development for Microsoft Dynamics CRM (fmtconsultants.com)  which relates to an earlier version of CRM and the SDK .

I have written a few custom workflows but these are all driven from data 'events' triggered within CRM

Can anyone look at this and see if this can be used or point me in the direction of a 'dummies' tutorial to the same effect for the later versions of CRM

Please note that we are NOT looking to use any online portals, this is more to for our internal intranet development

Thank you in advance for any assistance
