Install issue on old GP version

We're running GP2015 on a Windows 2008R2 server. The server was connected to AD, but unfortunately the AD server is no longer available (won't go into the details, but honestly, it's gone. No way of getting it back / restoring etc)

The PCs that were already running GP have been converted to local user and are connecting no problem - all working OK.

However, I need to install the GP client on another PC, but the install process is baulking at the 'eConnect for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015' part of the install - it's asking for a domain, username and password but of course without AD these can no longer be verified.

Are we able to set up a local user on the GP server to overcome this? And if so, what permissions would this user need.

Thanks

    This should work for you.....

That's as close as we have to installing eConnect onto a workgroup machine

Dynamics GP and eConnect are the only two applications we have that don't specifically require a domain/AD environment, though recommended.

The procedure in the link involves joining the workstation to a temporary domain. But we don't have a domain server - it's just a standalone Windows 2008 server.

The document actually states that "The installation process requires that the desired computer for the eConnect installation must be on a domain." - if that's correct then I'm possibly out of luck!

The install of eConnect itself does require a domain account, so, if you absolutely do not have a domain/Active Directory on the environment, then you probably won't be able to use the steps in the article I'm mentioned.

I did mention, this is as close to what we have in being able to setup eConnect on a workgroup environment, but it does require a domain user to do the install, then once it is installed, you use the rest of the steps to change to a workgroup/local account.

eConnect requires a domain. However, on workstation I have been successful entering '\.' as the domain.  (no single quotes)

Thanks, but what user did you use? I'm being asked for a domain, a user and a password. If I use '\.' as the domain, is it looking for a user on the local PC or the GPserver? And either way, it will still need a user - does this user need access rights to anything in particular?
