Custom Data Entities not visible in UDE after deployment – treated as orphan entities and removed

Hello everyone,

We are facing an issue with custom Data Entities in a UDE environment.
All the custom data entities were not visible, and we could not perform import or export of data through data management.
We deployed our model from Visual Studio → Extensions → Deploy to Online Environments by connecting to Dataverse from the Tools menu.

Observations:
1. In Data management → Data entities, none of our custom data entities are visible.
2. We tried “Refresh entity list”, but the custom entities are still not appearing
3. From the Refresh entity list batch job logs, we noticed that all our custom data entities were treated as orphan entities and removed during the refresh process.
4. The Data Entity objects exist in Visual Studio (AOT), but they are not registered in the UDE environment.

Additionally, when we try to query one of the entities directly:
select * from DrmMaterialEntity

we get the following error:

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server][SQL Server] Invalid object name 'drmmaterialentity'.

Object Server Azure:

Cannot select a record in (). The SQL database has issued an error.

We would appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Kind Regards,
Rishi

Hello, first of all check if the model is installed.
Try to check in ? section of FO, than Version to check if there your model.

Next, if yes, try a full sync of the system, can be a kind error during create entities/table.

    Hi Diego,

Our model was installed successfully, and confirmed it by checking the About section.
We deployed the model and performed a full build + DB sync, but the issue still persists. The full DB sync completed successfully in Visual Studio 2022 with no errors.
However, I am unsure whether the full build + sync is being properly reflected in the UDE environment, because the UI did not reload after the process and I was able to continue working on the existing page without any refresh.

    Hi Rishi,

Can you clarify if you have only the compiled model or the full source code of the model? If you have the source code, is performing a build successful?
Can you also share a screenshot of the Visual Studio object properties of one of the data entities that is missing?
Do you have the same data entities working correctly on another environment?

Initially, after deploying our model, we could not see any custom data entities.

Later, we redeployed the model and performed a full build + DB sync. This completed without errors. However, when we ran Synchronize Database, an error occurred:

    Error Message:

“Microsoft.Dynamics.CAP.Iris.Connectors.Exceptions.DSSidecarOperationException: DS/Sidecar operation: dbsync failed with the error code FailedDependency; error message: Failure happened while running DBSync on environment fosandbox16.”

After redeploying the model once again and refreshing the entity list, the custom data entities became visible.
I did not perform any synchronize database again.

The exact root cause and definitive resolution could not be clearly identified.

But I was able to import the data through data manageement.

    Hi Rishi,

I also faced an issue with the Data Entity in UDE. The problem was that the UDE environment did not provide the exact error during the build.
To troubleshoot this, I followed the same steps in a standard Tier‑1 environment, where I was able to identify the root cause and fix the issue.
