Hi All,
My account range is allowing account 1121 and any values in these 3 segments. I'm not sure why I have the ".. not valid for the ledger". 1121 is a ledger account for cash. All of these look good to me. Apparently, something is not working right. Please suggest the possible causes of this invalid error. Thanks so much!
Hi Kim,
Moved this thread to the AX forum.
About your issue, I have some questions:
1. Are the findims '000' findim IDs that have been setup. That is, are these findims not 'blank' values that are not allowed to be used?
2. The message says that account structure 2021 is not valid. Is this account structure setup and linked in the ledger form under GL/setup/ledger?
3. Is the account structure active?
4. Do you regularly change / update your account structures? I am asking because of the ID '2021' that is shown in the message box above.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Thanks, Ludwig, for your response.
1. Yes. I, also, have checked the boxes in 3 fin.dim to allow blank and it's still not working.
2. Yes, this 2021 account structure is attached to the Ledger.
3. Yes, it is active.
4. Yes, we just change the Account Structure for business purposes to drive better data.
and
Yes, I can move this to AX forum. :-) I think this issue is not specific to AX and D365 anyway. Not many people read AX postings because the majority are in D365 now. I was hoping to get more feedback here. I have been pulling my hair on this.
Was the journal line created before you activated the new '2021' account structure? If so, the dimension value set record ID used on the journal line is not valid anymore and you have to re-enter the data.
Thanks, Andre', for your response. The journal is created after the new Account Structure is activated.
For no 4:
Has the journal or transaction been created before the account structure has been changed?
If the journal/transaction has been created before the account structure was changed and invoiced/updated afterwards, then you might see such an error.
What should help is the following:
1. Try to delete the journal / record and create it once again.
2. If No 1 is not possible then switch the account structure back to the previously used one, complete the transaction e.g. by invoicing it and then move your 2021 account structure back.
Thanks, Ludwig.
1. Yes. The journal is created but resulted in the same error.
2. Switch back to the previous Account Structure may work but it is too risky since we are in PROD and there are many transactions going on from different business units. I appreciated your thinking from different angles.
I also notice that this account is not acting normally. Normally, when an account has transaction(s) in it, you can't delete it. AX/D365 will give you an error like this, "...record has been used on a transaction. You cannot delete the record...". In TEST, I deleted this account, and the system let me without any error. I wonder why that is. I'm not aware of any customizations to this account. Let me know what this possibly be. Thanks.
Hello Kim,
What you mention sounds a bit scary.
I think the safest way to move forward is getting the MS support involved here.
They can do a screensharing with you and have a detailed look at your environment.
