Demo Installation Failing To Install Web Services

Hi All,

I have a BC 210 demo install working fine on a dedicated windows 2019 server VM.

I tried to install the BC 230 demo on a separate clean VM that was set up pretty much identically.

I am getting the messages below on install.

I searched and found that one person reported that some file names were too long and to try putting all the install files into c:/emp.

So I put them into c://zt and uninstalled and reinstalled etc.

But I still get the same error.

I am guessing I can go set the registry key manually to be like my 210 install.

But I thought it prudent to ask if this is a known problem with a known remedy.

I have not been able to find a remedy that works so far.

RegistrySearch: Id = 'WebComponentsPrerequisitesInstalled', searching for registry key value.
Id = 'WebComponentsPrerequisitesInstalled', Registry key not found. Key = 'SOFTWARE//Microsoft//Microsoft Dynamics NAV//230//Web Components Prerequisites'
ERROR: Package Web Server Components failed with error. See detailed message above.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.

I really appreciate that.

Best Regards

Demo Installation Failing To Install Web Services
    Hi Peter,

As you mentioned you have put the DVD in a much shorter path near to root and surely renamed the DVD as it's a big folder name.

I am also expecting that you are running installation process as Administrator.

Additionally, during installation do you see a DOS (Command prompt) window titled as webclientdependencyInsatller.exe.

In the installation media this exe exist, and you can also run it manually if its not running during installation process.

Can you please provide the error log or details in event log to further analyze it?

Here is the complete installation process of BC 23 - https://youtu.be/r6tRL2VShR0?si=J8eLdcrXBjo51sr_
