Project and Operations module in D365 F&O

Dear all,

To use Project and Operations module in D365 F&O, what security role should be granted and what license is needed?
If project accounting security role is required, then the D365 Project Operation license is required, is that right?
As far as I am concerned, Project and Operations is one module in D365 F&O, so D365 Project Operation license is not required.
But when I check the roles and license permissions in the D365FO environment (System Administration > Security > Security Configuration > Show Permissions), seems Project Accounting role requires a D365 Project Operation License, can anyone help me clarify this?

Option 1: You can follow these steps.
    1. Identify what the roles and responsibilities will be performed by the users in Project operations
    2. Use below two data entities to identify right Role using Role's and duties descriptions.
    3. In security configuration, you can find what license type a security role will fall under
Option 2: If you want to find the list of roles under project license type then, go to a user and check "Assign a role". There you can find out all roles and its license type. Export the list and use it for your need

    Hello,
    • If you're only using basic Project and Operations functionality, no additional license may be needed, as it is part of D365 F&O.
    • If you need access to Project Accounting or more advanced Project Operations functionality, the D365 Project Operations license is required.
    • Check your roles and permissions within the system to determine whether the Project Accounting role requires the D365 Project Operations license, which it typically does for full functionality.
Otherwise, you can assign the role to a user directly  and check, from this screen, which license they need :

    Best regards,

    Hi,

Please download and read the Dynamics 365 licensing guide. Project management and accounting is part of the Project Operations license. You can create projects using the Finance license, but in case you need project features like WBS, the Project Operations license is required.

There are various deployment options. Regardless if you use the features in F&O or the customer experience deployment, this requires the same license.
