Rich text Fields

Our business wants to convert our existing Description field(Multiple lines of text) to the Rich Text field for a custom entity where the data may have links to open.

On browsing various forums tried using CKEditor for the same but I could only open the link when I click on ctrl+right click and use crome's open in new window feature otherwise I cannot open any link on single/double click.

on the other hand when I tried the OOB rich text field of MS for Knowledge article entity, there I was able to open the link on a single click.

Can anyone please confirm that this is the expected behavior of CKeditor or do we need to enable opening link using some customer code.

    RE: Rich text Fields

    Hi,

You do not need to have a Rich Text field. A Mulitiple Lines of Text field is enough.

You only need to choose a Rich Text Editor control for it on the form.

When you open the field properties on the form, like the following image:

You can go to the Controls tab, and click on the Add Control and choose the Rich Text Editor Control, and the same as me you can specify to which environment it must be shown (Web, Phone, Tablet):

Then, you can enjoy the Rich Text Editor for your field:

    RE: Rich text Fields

Has anyone gotten any of these options to work?

There are many options for us to enable render Rich Text Format:

Web resource(custom javascript code is required):

    1. Create a custom HTML web resouce, read field which saves HTML code by "parent.Xrm.Page.getAttribute("xxx")"(or by Web API) at onLoad event of the web resource,

then render content by document.write("HTML code") or document.getElementById("xxx").innerHTML = "HTML code"

    2. Render HTML with 3rd party Rich Text Editor library:

    http://hauge.cloud/2017/06/08/how-to-enable-rich-text-in-dynamics-crm-using-ckeditor/

    Modern way(low code):

    3. Render HTML with "Rich text editor" control of Canvas App, then import the app as control in Dynamics

    https://evolved365.com/2019/05/02/embedding-a-rich-text-controller-to-a-field-using-a-canvas-app/

    4. Import a rich text editor control from PCF.gallery(see what it is), there are many useful custom controls in PCF.gallery website!

    The RTE control:

How to deploy the control to our environment:

    Did you ever solve this?

We have the exact same issue. We brought over notes from SharePoint in Rich Text format and our client is all upset it displays the HTML and they want it fixed.

    Hi Johao,

Thanks for the information, I have raised a query with them for the same. Meanwhile, wanted to ask is there any way that the OOB rich text field type that we get for email activity  can be used for any other custom entity?
