    Hi,

First of all the title is not indicating the topic of your question. "Microsoft Dymics AX" is too general. I have changed it for you.

Can you explain more in detail what you mean with "usage of Items"? This can be interpreted in many ways. You have indicated with a tag that it is related to manufacturing, but please elaborate.

    Hi,

It is still not clear Is "usage of items":

    A) Internal consumption of items

    B) Sold items

    C) Consumed items on production orders (BOM)

    D) Other, please specify.

Hi - are you referring to the Sales and Purchasing 'Period statistics' forms that you can access from the Released products form? - I'm not certain, but I've always assumed that those forms are just summaries of Inventory transactions (InventTrans) - although if you're going to be developing your own inquires or reports you'll need to look at more than just that single table.

It is Consumed items on production orders (BOM)

    Hi rsamanth,

Then I see you have two choices. You can use InventTrans, and the related tables (InventTransOrigin?). Do an inquiry at Inventory management -> Inquiries -> Transactions -> Transactions and filter by 'Type' = 'Production line' (the field is on the 'General' tab).

This will show you all inventory that has been consumed by a production order.

Or you can use the Production picking list journal, which is posted when Items are consumed, and is responsible for creating the Inventory transactions you looked at above. The tables for the Production picking list journal are ProdJournalTable and ProdJournalBOM.

Hi rsamanth, just to extend Guy's answer: be aware that a user can delete posted picking list journals - which may be an issue if you rely on the picking list journal lines for reporting.

Also there's a 'Price calculation' inquiry from the production order which will show you actual (and planned) production usage per order (and there's a Cost estimates and costing' report that will show you the same information.

Like Guy mentioned, I would go for the InventTrans (and InventTransOrigin) route.
