Customized HTML Order Confirmation/Invoice Emails

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport

Looking for a better solution to customize email notifications to end customers for order confirmation, shipment notification and invoices. The basic template looks terrible. Is there a way (or add-on) to create HTML templates and have the order data added.  Would also like the PDF that's attached to have the same format.

Are you referring to standard order confirmation, invoice report ?, if so you can modify/format those in report designer to match your requirements, i don't think there is any possibility of using HTML templates for your report.

Yes, the standard reports which use the variables %1, %2 and \ for new lines, etc.

I find it hard to believe there isn't a solution or workaround to be able to format the emails in HTML for a professional look, versus the text-only basic template.

But it sounds like at best a third-party might have a solution if it doesn't exist in NAV natively?

    Josh,

Are you referring to the body in the email or actual attachments i.e. order confirmation or invoices generated from NAV? Are you using any add-on to generate email ? It sound like you are using Lanham Email. Please confirm

    Thanks

Yes, the body of the actual email, not the attached PDF (which would be nice to have them both look the same).  It would be nice to have a formatted email instead of just basic text and a lack of structure.  Example of current plain text email that we currently send versus HTML example:

Josh, You can customize to generate HTML emails but to replicate the attached PDF could end up lot of work not sure if it worth because you already have all the information you need in the attachment.  But if you are looking for just nice formatting you have to customize it. You did not answer how you generated the email ? are you using an Add-on ?

In the past to generate formatted HTML emails i have used Outlook and Word App automation. If you need a sample code i can send it to you.

Suresh, the emails are generated using the NAV template currently, but that has limited options with it's own creation language, and are being sent via SMTP. This language has characters that would break HTML or cause other line breaks, etc.

    Josh,

Just to you know that is not standard NAV, that is part of Lanham E-mail Add-on, unfortunately there is no simple way other than customization.

My apologies Suresh, I appreciate the info, I didn't realize that was an add-on. Your information has been very helpful. I was hoping to stay away from customization, rather find an appropriate add-on that had more control, but perhaps I have no choice.
