Barcodes on Work Orders

Hi all

I have a requirement to show a Barcode in the Field Service App in replacement of the Work order number. Has anyone done this before? i cannot see how this is possible.

The Barcode will always be unique and will be Work Order number in Barcode format. Tried the above but currently still showing as the number :( . Still working on it thou. Thank you for your advise.

You could do it if you follow my screenshot above.

Although I dont know how the system will react as Field Service auto assign a number to the msdyn_name field on creation of a work order.

Will the barcodes you will be scanning be 100% unique for each work order? Because if they wont be then its not a good idea to directly edit the msdyn_name. But I think you could get away with it if each bar code is unique.

It might be worth storing this barcode in a separate field and then show this field in all the work order views etc.

I think a little but of thought and testing will need to be done before going ahead with the requirement :)
