Budget Planning and financial dimensions/account structures

Hello,

a customer has setup a number of financial dimensions for posting in the ledger. However, for budgeting purposes, they would like to record amounts only on a subset of main account-financial dimension combinations.

For example: Division+Product type+Cost unit would be required by the ledger account structure; for budgeting, Cost unit would be enough.

I have setup the subset of financial dimensions for budgeting under "dimensions for budgeting" in the budgeting module, as well as in the budget planning configuration. However, when I input some figures and want to submit a budget plan, the system throws an error message saying that some financial dimensions required by the account structure/advanced rule structure from the general ledger are missing.

Is there a parameter, setup or workaround to achieve this?

I have the same question (0)

Marianna, It is difficult to guess and suggest solutions. :) Based on your responses so far, ti seems your configs are spot on. You will need review your advanced rules properly to see if the culprit is there. In y view, the error is stemming from the advanced rules you have.

RE: Budget Planning and financial dimensions/account structures

    Hi everyone,

thanks for your replies. In response to your suggestions:

    • Budget control is not enabled nor configured yet. I'd only like to use budget planning for now.
    • I have added the selected dimensions we would like to budget on to a ledger dimensions set, and selected this one under budget planning configuration --> layout. This dimensions are added to the account structure via advanced rules, as they are not all required for all main accounts.

    Any other idea/suggestion?

    Regards,

    Marianna

RE: Budget Planning and financial dimensions/account structures

Marianna I believe you need to import your budget where each import has the same account structures.  In other words only include main accounts with the same account structures for a budget import

    Thanks

    Hey Mariaana,

What i understand from your requirement, you want to define budget on <Account + Cost unit>

    check the following configurations:

    1. Budget Planning Configuration >> Layout Tab >> Ledger dimension set (make sure all those dimensions are part of account structure & the same dimensions are selected in dimension for budgeting screen)

    2. Budget control configuration >> Make sure all dimensions are selected in "Budget control dimension Grid"

    3. Are you using any "Budget control rules" ?

If you still didn't succeed, then let me know, I'll tell you another way to troubleshoot this issue further :)

    Mariaana,

Do you have Budget control enabled ? If yes, make sure the Dimensions for budgeting includes all the dimensions the Account structure requires.
