Hi My Name Vinay,
For Example If i say 3 financial dimensions are there 1.Department 2 .Cost Center 3.Region.
When i select Region by default the department and cost center should come automatically . What is the process and how to setup in the system.
Regards
Vinay Prudhvi

Hi Vinay,
What Amith shared is available in D365FO only.
In AX2012 you don't have the possibility to setup derived financial dimensions the same way as in D365FO.
If you need exactly the derived findim feature that Amith shared in AX2012 then you have to consider making a system modification, i.e. code adjustment.
Best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Vinay prudvi,
We dont have OOB functionality in ax 2012 automatcially to populate department and cost center based on Region selection. You can use advance rule structure in ax 2012 to cover some portion of it but that will not fullfil your purpose 100%.
Just to get an understanding about "Derived dimensions" functionality, just refer to the below page >> Derived Dimension section
docs.microsoft.com/.../financial-dimensions
Hi Ludwig/ Junaid
what you said above, Code adjustment means Customization required or its standard functionality.
How to do the Code adjustment for Derived dimension functionality in AX 2012 .
Yes it's required customization. You have to engage your developer with you to do that change. If it is showstopper to your business then go for the customization otherwise i will not suggest to do the code change particularly for drived dimension because it is bit critical.
I sent you the link to get an idea about derived dimensions in D365 or if you can have any demo machine for D365 FinOps then just check the derived dimensions functionality how exactly it is working.
Thank you Very much Junaid.
Do you need any further information or help in this regard. Can you please mark the answer as verified to help others.
Hi vinay Prudhvi,
If you really want to go for a code adjustment then I would recommend that you take the most senior developer you can get.
Ideally one that has also D365FO experience and who knows the D365FO feature.
That is because the findim framework is complex and if you make a small mistake you can literally break / mess up your whole system.
So, please do some extensive testing before you apply this in your live environment.
Thanks you Mr.Ludwig
