Line item workflow development

Hi all,

I am working on workflows and have developed workflows for SalesTable, CustTable and SalesQuotationTable.

Now, I need to develop a workflow for line items i.e. SalesLines and SalesQuotationLines. I have followed the guidelines which are mentioned on the msdn for development of line item workflow but stuck on a point and didn't find a way out.

I have created a whole new workflow for lines, Is this really needed or just the workflow type development would get it done ? Now while adding the line item workflow to my sales table workflow it asks for a property "LineItemWorkflowRelation", In case of PurchReqReview workflow type this property shows a value in lookup. I am not getting that lookup. Could anyone please help me out ?

Many Thanks in advance,

Rishi

    Jonathan,

Sorry to bothering you again, but the line item workflow isn't working. The workflow starts, line items created successfully but the approval process is not executing. I have defined the eventhandlers for line item approvals same as header approval because in standard the line and the header shares the same event handlers. The header part is working all good. Please help...! I'll surely owe you a beer :)

    Regards,

    Rishi

ok... got it, So I just have to create a new workflow for line item, and no need to create submitManager as it will share the submitmanager from header. And also, no need to define any eventhandler. Just create one, add it to the line items of header and configure the header workflow. Am I right ?

Hi Rishi. You do need to create a whole new workflow for the lines (although the one exception is that the submitManager is not too important as the workflow is being executed from another workflow not from a user manually clicking "submit"

I think, my point of confusion is...whether I have to create a whole new workflow for lines as well i.e . with all eventhandlers ans submitManager or the line items will share these piece of codes with header. I'm sorry, if it annoys you. I am a beginner in this and try to learn all if's and but's.... :)

    Regards,

    Rishi

yes, I have defined an approval element and tried to set it properties just like the standard line item workflow.

Hi Rishi. Have you defined an approval element in your line item workflow?

    Hi Jonathan,

    How are you ?

I have this question, In case of purchreqlineReview, the StartedEventHandler and the CompletedEventhandler are of header workflow type and there is no submitManger class defined. So, where should I write code in order to create work-items for line too. because as of now it only initiates the line item workflow but didn't creates the work items for the same.

    Regards,

    Rishi

No, you can build that logic into your header workflow conditions for executing line level workflows.

    Glad I could assist.

Jonathan, one more thing I need to ask is "I cannot see the canSubmitToWorkflow method on purchreqline table", so is it necessary to have one on line ?

Now, that's the kind of expertise I needed.
