Line item workflow development

Hi all,

I am working on workflows and have developed workflows for SalesTable, CustTable and SalesQuotationTable.

Now, I need to develop a workflow for line items i.e. SalesLines and SalesQuotationLines. I have followed the guidelines which are mentioned on the msdn for development of line item workflow but stuck on a point and didn't find a way out.

I have created a whole new workflow for lines, Is this really needed or just the workflow type development would get it done ? Now while adding the line item workflow to my sales table workflow it asks for a property "LineItemWorkflowRelation", In case of PurchReqReview workflow type this property shows a value in lookup. I am not getting that lookup. Could anyone please help me out ?

Many Thanks in advance,

Rishi

Hi Rishi. You do need to develop a who new workflow type and create a configuration against this type. Next you need to add it as a available line item workflow type on the header workflow type.

    Hi Jonathan,

Appreciate your quick response. I have created a whole new workflow and while I tried to add it to the header workflow type, It asked for a property named "LineItemWorkflowRelation" into which the lookup is empty. I didn't find the loop hole here.. :(

Does your line table have a relationship defined to the header table and is it linked in the line's workflow document query?

Yes, there exists a relation between the line table and the header table and is linked with the workflow document query properly.

    Hi Rishi.

I finally figured out the issue. You need to do the following: On the query linked to you header workflow. You need to link in your line table as a sub datasource to the header datasource. Then most importantly you need to change the "FetchMode" to 1:n instead of 1:1. This will enable you to find the relationship on your header workflow type. I'd recommend also setting the joinmode to OuterJoin.

    I hope this helps

I'll implement the solution and get back to you if there's still remain any issue with the same.

    Rishi

Jonathan, one more thing I need to ask is "I cannot see the canSubmitToWorkflow method on purchreqline table", so is it necessary to have one on line ?

No, you can build that logic into your header workflow conditions for executing line level workflows.

    Glad I could assist.
