Hi All,
In current NAV functionality, system will allow to change the Item Code even if there are posted entries. Once the item code is changed, it will also update the entries, documents and anything related to the item.
Is there any conflict in the future for this item code change?
Your reply is highly appreciated. Thank you.

It won't create any problem system wise unless if there are any customization without table relation been setup by the developer. However in the reporting section it will create some inconstancy. As an example if you take a report and in that report item will show as 'xyz' and after few days the same item will shown as 'abc' in the report. So it will be confusint to your users.
Therefore I suggest you to avoid renaming the items after transactions been entered againt the items.
If you don't have any customization related to this... you can take it easy, there won't be any problem :-))
In Standard Navision, the rename takes care of updating everyplace it needs to update to not cause an issue, but if you have any third party integration or any customization's where the table relation is not mentioned in those places it will not update, so it really depends upon your database .
In the standard version of Dynamics NAV, you'll have no problem.
If you do, that's because of some add-on or development that has fields with the Item No. which are not related with the Item table, so those fields are not updated and you can get into some error related with that.
Hi,
I did it in the past and I didn't have any issues with it.
Regards,
Steven
