Data Import Export Framework Error "Could not find file..."

(0) ShareShare

I'm attempting to load the DIEF tool with standard entity based on the documentation for importing a customer. The problem occurs when trying to preview the data after generating the source mapping and validating it. Everything appears to be OK right until the point of preview.

The error reads: Could not find file (Directory of file path) then an obscure text file name {BD6213FB-3AAC-4777-97DC-DE245BB73982}..txt.

If I had to guess what the issue was; it would be something related to the initial setup (installation) of the tool, however I cannot find exactly what to do about this error. Any help would be appreciated

Please make sure the AOS has read and write access to your temporary folder.

Thank you for your input, I have already validated the service account access directory. I have a green checkbox!

The issue comes when trying to preview the file.

When you attempt to preview the file, the framework will use this folder temporarily while interacting with SSIS. You should notice the creation of randomized GUID named files in that folder when you press preview. Can you see if files are being dropped in the working folder? Do you have any errors in the Event Viewer on either the AOS server or the server running SSIS?

Thank you again for your response. There is no temporary files being created in the directory. -- This is the same as the directory the sample generated file was saved to.

One thing I have noticed, there is no processing directory or competed directory when I attempt to go to the next step of "Get staging data" If I attempt to click run I'm left with the same error as when I try to preview the data

I always stop at preview before attempting to Get Staging data. Preview will load the first 100 rows and is a nice way to QA the setup for the entity is defined correct.

Verify the DIEF service (running on same server as SQL Server Integration Services) is running under the same service account as the AOS, and this account has full access to the working folder.

Did you find any errors in the Event Viewer of any of the servers - errors correlating to problems during preview.

I wish I could get 1 to preview! I'm attempting right now just as a proof on concept to load one customer entry in.

I will check errors in the event viewer and post my results. Thank you

I'm facing exactly the same problem. Do you manage to find an answer to this?

I got mine working. After I shared the folder, and put \\ServerName\Working Directory, instead of C:\Working Directory. The Data Import Export Framework Parameters validation was OK even if I put C:\Working Directory, but failed whenever I tried to perform a preview.

Well, you need to consider the fact that both the AOS and the DMF- or DIEF Service needs to be able to access the same folder. If the DMF- or DIEF Service is running on a different machine, this folder needs to be a shared disk resource. Normally, the DMF- or DIEF Service runs on the SQL Server, because that is where SSIS is running, and this server is not the same as the AOS Server. You may sit on the AOS server and have access to the folder (on local C Drive), but the SQL Server has its own C Drive. ;-)

Perhaps the folder validation routine could check to see of the shared resource is in fact a network share, but then again it would work ok if it was the demo image where *everything* is running on the same machine.
