Exporting an overview of the AOT to excel

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and just started my career as an AX 2009 applications manager.

We are currently in the process of making an overview of all the customization's we have running in AX09 before deciding what customization's will be fazed out so that we can have a production that is running as close to the standard version of AX09 as possible, before we make the jump to AX12 and further.

Communication wit our original AX vendor is nonexistent so I have no way of contacting the developer that was responsible for all our customization's. But I notice that all custom work in the AOT is tied to a name convention. (everything starts with the first 3 letters of our ex vendor name).

My idea was to export all AOT names to excel and filter out everything that doesn't start with the first 3 letters of our vendor name.

My question however, is if there is a function in AX that enables me to export all the AOT names by type to excel.

Regards,

Ilya

Hi Ilya, you can also create a project with all the modifications in the USR or CUS layer to find everything that was changed.

    technet.microsoft.com/.../aa890665(v=ax.50).aspx

Select source layer as CUS or USR (or do it for both). Untick the "Only include elements present in both layers" checkbox.

    No.

But if you want an overview, you can build a "code" project with all customized elements in the AOT.

You can go to table \System Documentation\Tables\UtilIdElements - u will get entire object which u have created  in AX as well as standard objects list type wise from where u can copy from in Excel.

    Hi Bhaskar,

Thank you for your answer, but sadly I don't get the desired list of all objects.

In the AOT i go to System Documentation>Tables>and i select UtilIdElements.

It gives me a short list of methods, relations and indexes.

Depending on the naming convention is a bad idea - it's more than likely that there are modifications of standard objects, which obviously have their names defined by Microsoft.

I would recommend to start with Jacob's suggestion. Create and open a new project, then press Ctrl+F3 to open Project filter form, click Select and set Layer to the layer you want, or put some expression there (e.g. >SYP). Confirm it and wait until all objects meeting your criteria are added to the project.

I don't think so u did copy entire objects correctly. I will recommended you please filter the objects first with your (first 3 letters of our ex vendor name like exm. APJ*).

One example: Table Name APJDemo, calss Name - APJdemoprocess, Form - APJDemoUI

you will get above objects as below

    Record Type - Column   Name

    Table                        - APJDemo

    Classes                     - APJdemoprocess

    Forms                       - APJDemoUI

Same for entire objects which is started with APJ*

Hope you are cleared now and check.

If your naming convention is correct, you will get definitely desired object list.

    Hi Ilya,

Note that to use Bhaskar's suggestion, you should right click on the node, then click Add-ins and finally table browser.  A simple "Open" will instead show the help content for the table.

From the developer work space, click on Tools, Model management, Model elements.  From this grid you can filter on the Parent name, name, and even on one or more Layers, as well as on one or more Types.  Ctrl-T exports to Excel easily.

    Hi Brandon

Thank you for this concise answer.

I'm in a similar situation to Ilya Bierivliet  as stated above,  when I followed the answer you gave above, it gave me all the information I needed for the customisation audit of our current system. I haven't tried other suggestions but this one of yours really gladden my day. Thanks a lot.
