Hi,
Could anyone validate this process to upload fixed assets on the go live of a company? I was hoping to do it without modifying posting profiles but I don't see how:
We need 3 files:
* Fixed assets: fixed asset number, group, name
* Fixed assets book: acquisition price, depreciation periods, depreciation periods remaining, depreciation profile, posting profile, service life
* Fixed asset journal: records accumulated depreciation - the template has a column for offset account but this doesn't make much sense as the journal when uploaded, tries to post as per the FA posting profiles, therefore, we need to put the bridge accounts used for the initial upload on the FA posting profile and change them after the upload is completed. - can anyone validate this point specially and share other approaches please?
Thanks!
Hi CapsLock,
You indeed have to use other posting profile settings to record the balances for fixed assets. You will need to import the details in the next order:
- Fixed assets
- Fixed asset books/value models
- Asset journal for acquisition values (validate and post it with other offset account)
- Asset journal for cumulative depreciation values (validate and post it with other offset account)
- Fixed asset books/value models to reset the details as per initial upload (The postings will change the acquisition date, last depreciation date and remaining depreciation periods)
Depending on other requirements for e.g. revaluations, you can post other journals as well. Ensure you will create a new depreciation journal after the conversion to check if the new depreciation proposal is correct.
