I have a custom form migrated from CRM 2011. I have added timeline to this and only see Assistant and Notes. I don't see Activities and Posts.
It's on the contact entity which I know has activities enable since it appears on the OOTB form.
Do I have to recreate the form as a new one in order to get the Activities to appear.

I would strongly suggest to create a new form since the migration from 2011 to 2016 may cause issues.
I found a workable solution that allowed me to get the tabs without trying to recreate the form from scratch.
Exported the entity. Changed the FormPresentation parameter from 0 to 1 in the customizations.xml.
Imported the solution and all the tabs appear.
