Cust Ledger Entries, Open = false, but Remaining amount <> 0

Hi experts.

I am facing following scenario:

When applying entries (in CLE page), sometime, if user clicks on 'Preview posting' button, the system is unmarking the "Open" checkbox, and filling the 'Closed by entry' field as well, but Remaining amount stays the same, and no other entry is done (normal for 'preview' mode).

Then, user is not longer able to Apply the entry or Unapply either.

This as an example:

We have this 2 documents, the Cr Memo was "applied" to the Invoice, but when used the Preview Posting button, the records were affected and this is how they are now:

6433.1.jpg

Even when the Posting was not performed, you can see the Invoice as 'Closed by entry' and also Open = False.

If we navigate the 'Applied entries' for the INVOICE:

0777.2.jpg

However, since the Remaining amount is not cleared, we can try 2 options: Un-Apply this document, or Apply this document, right?, well then, for Un-apply:

1200.3.jpg

Then maybe trying to apply (from the invoice, I know this can be wrong, but is for show this error now):

6646.4.jpg

So, as expected, if we try to apply from the Cr-Memo, the Invoice is not longer available to be applied:

1273.5.jpg

So, I know that the function "Preview Posting" must be reviewed and maybe fixed (I found out that there is a fix on a cummulative update for something similar).

However, my question is how to correct the cases we have like this one, because we all know that fixing the function Preview Posting will prevent new cases, but the existing ones? (we have more than 350 documents affected by now).

I want to know your thoughts on this situation.

Thank you all for your comments.

    Hi,

Just tested in NAV2017-DB and I couldn't reproduce the error.

Might be a customization in your code.

Manual clean up depends which related records in other tables have been created.

Run the Navigate function on one of the records to get an overview.

The link in the CLE is "Closed by Entry No.".

    Hi Hannes,

Yes, I tried also in an updated NAV 2017 db, and everything worked fine. I've just got my User with access to DB in order to review the function and if it has any customization.

But, my question also is, for the affected CLE, I already found that there was not accounting affectation, so I just want to mark Open again, and set "Closed by Entry No." to empty. But I understand that even with Super role (which I do not have) it is not possible to do via NAV client, is SQL my only option?

    Regards.

    Hi,

Make sure that no other tables are affected. Run the Navigate-Function on one of the faulty CLE.

Might be that the fields you want to amend are not editable. In this case I recommend to create a Report (ProcessingOnly) or a Codeunit to amend the data in NAV.

I would avoid amending data through SQL if possible.
