System Activity Tracking for Auditing

Our most recent System audit identified that we should be logging critical changes to the system by the admin users. I looked in the activity tracking set up but it appears to track log ins, posting and maintenance. Is there an automatic way to track changes to system or company set up in the background?

We are still running 2010

    GP's audit piece is somewhat limited.

    Rockton Software and other ISVs produce more robust auditing tools.

    Changes on the setup level are absolutely critical and should be maintained in log especially to admin users on the System. To monitor such activities, the "File Tracking"  is your option through which you can do the following;

    • Additions to Master files/ setup files
    • Deletion from Master files/ setup files
    • Modifications on the Master files/ setup files

    Other tracking options include Posting and Process (to track utilities and routine maintenance processes), Access and Login. That would almost cover the need to track essential any administrative activities performed on the System.

    Otherwise, in case of any customized specific request, you could simply track any changes on the database level regarding essential changes or modifications by setting "triggers" to record all the data that you might need to maintain in your log (User, Date, Time ... etc)

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks Mahmoud. This is excellent information.
