We are a distribution company . [bring the product from supplier and and sell in our region . ] Once we place the order it take 40 days to manufacture and 25 days transit time to reach in our warehouse.

Question, how can we find the re-order point in AX

Dear Crispin

I mean before the SOH [stock on hand] reach the safety stock level ,we want to place new order to keep our inventory with sufficient stock.

So need a report from dynamics to help us to decide to place the new order by considering the lead time and transit time.

You can setup your item lead time/safety stock at item coverage/Default order settings form for every released product.

Hi Aslam,

Is your question more on "How much should be the safety stock level" in consideration to lead time and transit time..

If yes, pls consider below points

To arrive at the safety stock multiple factors has to be considered

1. Historical demand or issues for the item

2. Service level that needs to be maintained, higher service pct more the safety stock level,basically trade off between Inventory(Working capital) to Service.

Try to explore Safety stock journals, which would suggest quantity based on certain calculations and logic

Also if you have historical data, try to run demand forecasting tool this would throw some numbers based on the Historical transactions and forecast model used.
